Introducing yourself (być)
Meet być (to be) and say who and where you are.
Być is the first verb to know cold — you will use it in almost every sentence. One surprise: when you say what someone is (a job, a role), Polish uses the instrumental case, so 'I am a teacher' is Jestem nauczycielem, not Jestem nauczyciel.

- •Polish usually drops the pronoun — the ending already shows who.
- •Jak masz na imię? — what is your name?
- •Skąd jesteś? — where are you from?
