Aspect across all tenses

Aspect stops being a rule and becomes a tool for meaning.

At B2, aspect shapes nuance. In the past it separates a finished event from the background it happened against. In commands it shifts politeness and urgency — and negative commands almost always go imperfective.

I was reading when the phone rang.
Nie martw się.
Don't worry.
🧠 Tactic — Picture a film: perfective is a single snapshot (done); imperfective is the rolling footage (going on). Choose the shot you mean.
⚠️ Watch out — Nie + perfective command is a sharp warning ('don't you dare finish it'). For an ordinary 'don't', use the imperfective: Nie rób tego.

Quick check
